Little Thinkers Montessori

A small, independent Montessori-inspired early-childhood school in Park Slope — 12 months through Pre-K — that Pre-K for All participation could not be verified (checked 11 Aug 2026).

⚠️ Free Pre-K claim unverified  What the registers show

We could not verify a DOE Pre-K for All contract for this school. Checked 11 August 2026 against the live DOHMH Child Care Connect register (by name and by street) and the DOE MySchools Pre-K directory; the school appears in none of the three, while control searches on the same street and in the same district returned results. The school’s own site markets a private “Pre-K / Kindergarten” class, which is not the same as a city-funded Pre-K for All seat. If this is wrong, please tell us at corrections@.

Little Thinkers participates in NYC's free Pre-K for All, so eligible four-year-olds may attend at no cost. Seats and eligibility change year to year — apply via MySchools and confirm with the school. How free 3-K & Pre-K works →

Amber  Staff transparency

A warm, small school, but it presents as Montessori-inspired and its credentials aren't fully documented — ask what Montessori training the teachers hold and whether the program is AMS/AMI affiliated. Why this matters →

Park Slope

Stylized illustration of Park Slope, Brooklyn: a tree-lined street of brownstone row houses with stoops beside the green edge of Prospect Park

Park Slope is the quintessential family neighborhood — tree-lined blocks of brownstones with stoops, a strong stroller-and-playground culture, and Prospect Park on its doorstep, served by the F/G and 2/3.

Overview

Little Thinkers Montessori is a small, independent early-childhood school founded in 2012 in Park Slope, serving children from 12 months through Pre-K. It presents as Montessori-inspired, and — helpfully for local families — participates in NYC's free Pre-K for All.

Programs & ages

Toddler through Pre-K in an intimate setting. Because it ends at Pre-K, families plan a kindergarten move afterward (public, charter or private).

Tuition 2026–27

Private tuition is provided on request. Importantly, the school offers free Pre-K for All seats, so eligible four-year-olds can attend at no cost via MySchools. See our free 3-K & Pre-K guide.

Leadership & staff

As a small owner-run school, named staff and their Montessori training aren't fully published. Ask who leads each classroom and what certification they hold.

Accreditation & authenticity

Little Thinkers describes itself as Montessori-inspired rather than an accredited Montessori, and we couldn't verify AMS/AMI affiliation — so treat the "Montessori" label accordingly. Our authenticity guide covers what to ask.

What parents say

Independent review volume is limited; the appeal is a warm, small program in a family-dense neighborhood with a free Pre-K option. Weigh a tour heavily.

Heard around town

Signals from public parent forums and listservs (Park Slope Parents is the key local source). Forum chatter is opinion — take it with a grain of salt.

No candid, school-specific community chatter for Little Thinkers has surfaced yet. Heard something on Park Slope Parents? We'd love to add it.

Admissions

Inquire and tour directly for private spots; for the free Pre-K seats, apply through the DOE's MySchools process on the city's timeline. Our admissions timeline and planner help you track both.

Health & safety record

Violations heard and decided at the city’s administrative tribunal. We publish these in full, including when there are none.

No cases on record. No summons to this school appears in the city’s hearing records.

For comparison: across all 18,161 DOHMH child-care cases heard at OATH, 63.1% were sustained, 21.3% ended in default and 13.1% were dismissed. Most citations concern records, repairs and paperwork — staff immunisation files, premises upkeep, sink water temperature, background-check timing — rather than incidents involving a child.

Source: NYC Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings, case status data, checked 11 August 2026. These are adjudicated outcomes, not inspection allegations. The record gives the rule cited and the result, but never the inspector’s narrative — the charge text always reads “see attached NOV”. Outcomes can change on appeal. Something wrong? Tell us.
