Overview

Lefferts Gardens Montessori (LGM) is a family-run, independent AMS-member school that has operated in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens since 1986. It serves children from toddler age through the elementary years (about 2–10), which — like the handful of other through-elementary Montessoris in Brooklyn — lets families stay past the early years.

Programs & ages

Toddler, 3–6 Primary, and a lower-elementary program, in a small community-rooted setting reflecting nearly four decades in the neighborhood.

Accreditation & authenticity

An AMS member/affiliate since 1986. Membership isn't accreditation, but the track record and transparency are positive signals — see our authenticity guide.

What parents say

Independent review volume is limited; the appeal is a stable, family-run Montessori through elementary in a tight-knit neighborhood. Weigh a tour heavily.

Heard around town

Signals from public parent forums and listservs (Brooklyn communities like Park Slope Parents). Forum chatter is opinion — take it with a grain of salt.

No candid, school-specific community chatter for Lefferts Gardens has surfaced yet. Heard something in a PLG parent group? We'd love to add it.
